The Face Behind the Flyer #0623

This year we are introducing a new tradition, working with members of The Little Makers Market family, to design custom flyers to shout about the events. This benefits us with beautiful marketing but also, helps us celebrate the incredible talent within our community.

Artist flyers have quickly become one of my favourite parts of running The Little Makers Markets. It’s such an honour every month to be able to work with such talented individuals to create new marketing materials to share digitally & locally! Being able to see their processes unfold, and learning more about them as people, as well as creative, is truly inspiring.

So without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to the marvellous Charlotte from ‘Happy Sunshine Studio’. Digital artist & creator of our June flyer. Charlotte’s beautifully unique style exudes joy with playful colour block prints, colourful cards and unforgettable stationery! Not to mention she creates a cracking flyer!!

Read more below about Charlotte’s creative process.

My inspiration for the flyer design was summer florals but I wanted to do something different than just a bouquet of flowers. So I took inspiration from my second love, tea and fancy mugs, and decided to combine the two together.

The design itself took a few days to draw from the initial idea, to finding reference images, to final illustration.

I’ve always been into drawing and art from a young age. I studied art at GCSE and A Level then went on to study Footwear Design at university.

I hope this year to get some of my products stocked in some local shops. I have lots of markets and events booked all across East Anglia and I hope to continue developing my illustrations.

I create all my products on my iPad using Procreate and my Apple pencil so everything is digitally hand drawn and then printed at home.

I like to take inspiration from lots of different things. Some of my designs are based on my travels, others are just based on things I see in everyday life such as tiles and flowers.
